Where, oh where, did summer go? I can’t believe it’s almost over and we have less than 5 months left in the year. Before you know it, it will be Christmas! Then, Valentine’s Day. Then, Easter. Then… okay, okay, you get the picture.
While we all know the first day of fall technically begins September 23rd, most of us look at Labor Day weekend as the transition period that signifies the end of summer vacation and represents teachers and students begrudgingly heading back to school.
Labor Day Weekend also, for many, is a time to begin packing away our favorite white ensembles never to be seen until next summer. But before you begin packing your clothes for the summer, be sure to keep some of your staple white clothing in your closet. Ladies, I’m here to tell you the days of only wearing white during the summer months are over. Don’t let this supposed fashion faux pas discourage you from being on trend this fall and winter. I, for one, am not ready to part ways with my favorite white pumps or white blazer – and now, I don’t have to!
Here are a few staple pieces you will want to incorporate in your wardrobe this fall and winter. I’ll describe below how to incorporate them with your colder weather attire.
White Shoes
I have not always been a fan of white shoes. In recent years, I have warmed up to the idea of purchasing white sandals and pumps. This winter I plan to purchase a pair of white boots or booties. I believe white boots really bring a great contrast to an all-black outfit (as pictured below). In addition, it can provide a different look, that of one with an edge by pairing athletic wear or a long dress shirt with white boots or booties. Don’t be afraid to wear white booties with a pair of your favorite plaid pants or mini skirt this fall.
White Blazer
Light colored blazers do not have to just be worn in warmer temperature or the summer season. As I mentioned above, I’m not ready to part ways with my white blazer. This fall and winter, I plan to incorporate my white blazer with my dark denim and a light weight sweater. You can even add designer pins, such as Chanel or a silk scarf to your blazer for added flare. Wear your white blazer to the park, on a date, or to grab coffee with friends on the weekend.
White Jeans
Last summer I quickly packed my white jeans in the basement with shorts. This year, though, I will be sure to keep a few white jeans in my closet. Pair white jeans with a crisp white shirt or cream sweater and brown suede boots. Another look is incorporating tan clothing with white items (like the picture below).
